Sophia Awang, Head of Group Finance Operations, is a dynamic leader driving Malaysia Aviation Group’s (MAG) finance transformation. After beginning her career with a leading audit firm, she joined Malaysia Airlines in 2005 and progressed through roles spanning reporting, compliance and operations, consistently demonstrating a growth mindset and a strong ability to embrace new challenges. She later spearheaded Group Strategic Procurement, contributing to MAG’s receipt of the SAP Ariba Award for Procurement Transformation in 2024. Now leading Group Finance Operations, Sophia is transforming Group Finance into a strategic partner that maximises Group Enterprise Value through operational excellence- technology and data innovation, people excellence and sustainable growth. She holds a BA (Hons) in Accounting and Finance from the University of Plymouth, UK, and is ACCA-qualified. Her positive outlook and strategic vision continue to shape and inspire the future of finance.
