SAP Introduces AI Innovations to Accelerate Enterprise Efficiency

2 mins read

Singapore, 23 May 2025 — At its annual SAP Sapphire conference, SAP SE (NYSE: SAP) unveiled a series of innovations designed to place generative artificial intelligence at the heart of enterprise operations. Central to the announcement was the expansion of Joule, SAP’s AI-powered assistant, along with new AI agents and collaborative partnerships with industry leaders Perplexity and Palantir.

SAP’s focus this year is on embedding Business AI seamlessly across workflows to deliver measurable gains in productivity—potentially up to 30%—while empowering users to make faster, data-informed decisions across all lines of business.

“SAP combines the world’s most powerful suite of business applications with uniquely rich data and the latest AI innovations to create a flywheel of customer value,” said SAP CEO Christian Klein. “With the expansion of Joule, our partnerships with leading AI pioneers, and advancements in SAP Business Data Cloud, we’re delivering on the promise of Business AI as we drive digital transformations that help customers thrive in an increasingly unpredictable world.”

Joule Gets Smarter, More Ubiquitous

SAP’s Joule assistant is now integrated more deeply into user environments, offering real-time support across applications. A new feature—powered by WalkMe—lets Joule study user behaviour to anticipate actions and offer proactive guidance.

Its capabilities are also enhanced by SAP’s collaboration with Perplexity, enabling Joule to deliver structured, visual responses to complex business questions. Using SAP’s Knowledge Graph and real-time operational data, users can now gain immediate insight through charts, forecasts, and AI-generated context without ever leaving their workflows.

Joule Agents Redefine Automation Across Business Functions

SAP has introduced a suite of Joule Agents designed to automate and optimise key business processes. These agents span functions such as finance, procurement, customer experience, supply chain, and human capital management. Drawing on real-time enterprise data, the agents can work autonomously, adapt to changes and orchestrate actions across systems—offering significant operational advantages in today’s dynamic business climate.

An expanding ecosystem of interoperable agents is being developed through partnerships with other technology providers, helping organisations adopt AI-driven process redesign without disrupting existing systems.

Introducing AI Foundation for Enterprise Developers

SAP also launched AI Foundation—a centralised platform to help developers build, scale and manage AI applications across the enterprise. This new “operating system” for AI includes a prompt optimiser developed in collaboration with frontier AI lab Not Diamond, enabling teams to craft complex, effective AI prompts with greater efficiency.

Business Data Cloud Expands with Intelligent Applications

Further advancing its data strategy, SAP revealed new AI-native applications within the SAP Business Data Cloud platform. Each solution is tailored for specific business functions and designed to continuously learn, detect anomalies, simulate outcomes, and provide real-time decision support.

One such example is the People Intelligence application, which transforms HR data into actionable insights to optimise workforce productivity and support strategic people decisions.

Strategic Partnership with Palantir Enhances Data Integration

In a notable collaboration, SAP and Palantir will offer joint customers—ranging from commercial enterprises to public sector entities such as the U.S. government—seamless data integration capabilities. By aligning Palantir’s AI capabilities with SAP Business Data Cloud, the partnership aims to help organisations modernise their data infrastructure and accelerate cloud migration.

Accelerating Cloud Adoption with Tailored Solutions

To further support digital transformation, SAP introduced new Business Suite packages to simplify the adoption of cloud solutions for targeted business needs. These packages come with SAP Build pre-integrated, allowing for easier customisation.

In addition, SAP launched a cloud transition solution that leverages insights from SAP Signavio and SAP LeanIX. Guided by the Joule assistant, the tool provides personalised recommendations for enterprise-wide transformation, with the potential to reduce time-to-value by up to 35%.
