Singapore, October 9, 2026 — Swift has announced the members of its new Supervisory Board as the financial messaging cooperative strengthens its governance structure and advances its strategy for cross-border payments, digital assets and financial infrastructure. The new Board brings together senior industry leaders and independent directors with international experience across banking, payments, securities, market infrastructure, technology, risk and corporate governance. It will help shape Swift’s strategic direction as the financial services landscape continues to evolve.

The appointments come as Swift introduces a blockchain-based ledger designed to enable the financial industry to exchange and interoperate tokenised assets for the movement of funds around the clock. The Board will oversee the development of the initiative as new forms of digital value and potential use cases emerge. Swift is also advancing its international payments capabilities, with transactions increasingly completed in minutes and often seconds, alongside greater transparency and predictability. The Board will support efforts to accelerate transaction services powered by the latest technologies.

Meanwhile, developments in post-quantum technology and frontier artificial intelligence (AI) are reshaping the outlook for financial operations, resilience and cybersecurity. Swift’s management and the new Board will work together to navigate these emerging risks and opportunities while maintaining secure, seamless and scalable transactions across the global financial community.

The new two-tier governance structure is designed to align with international best practice for systemically important financial market infrastructures and is underpinned by regulatory principles. It comprises a Supervisory Board, made up of a chair, four independent directors and 10 shareholder-affiliated directors drawn from Swift’s global community, to oversee the company’s management.

The Supervisory Board will be supported by a Management Board chaired by Swift chief executive officer Javier Pérez-Tasso, alongside a 25-member Swift Council. The Council will provide a continuing voice for shareholders and users, bringing customer insights and diverse perspectives to the development of Swift’s strategy.

Graeme Munro, Chair of the Supervisory Board, Swift said, “The pace of change across the global financial system continues to accelerate, but Swift’s mission remains clear: to enable the secure, seamless and trusted movement of value across borders. The new Supervisory Board brings extensive international experience spanning payments, securities, technology, operations and the public sector, expertise that will help Swift and its community keep elevating the global transaction experience while integrating new forms of value and strengthening operational excellence and resilience.”

He added that the Board’s experience across payments, securities, technology, operations and the public sector would support improvements to the global transaction experience, the integration of new forms of value, and stronger operational excellence and resilience. Munro also highlighted Swift’s role as an industry-owned cooperative connecting more than 12,500 users across over 200 markets worldwide. He thanked outgoing Board members for their service and noted their continuing role through the new Swift Council.
