Singapore – February 7, 2025 – Workday, Inc. (NASDAQ: WDAY) has released a new global study, “Elevating Human Potential: The AI Skills Revolution,” highlighting AI’s role as a catalyst for skill development rather than job displacement. The findings reveal that AI will enhance human potential by emphasizing skills like empathy, ethical decision-making, and creativity.
While concerns persist about AI replacing jobs, the report paints an optimistic outlook:
- AI users are the most optimistic – Those actively using AI rate its benefits at 4.23 out of 5, while those planning adoption within 12 months show the lowest optimism (3.89 out of 5).
- AI enables higher-level work – 93% of active AI users agree that AI frees them to focus on strategy and problem-solving.
- Trust and transparency – 90% believe AI can increase transparency and accountability in organizations.
- A human-AI balance – 82% of employees believe human connection is increasingly vital, but only 65% of leaders agree.
The Rise of Human-Centric Skills
As AI adoption grows, so does the need for uniquely human skills. The study found that 81% of respondents acknowledge AI is reshaping job skill requirements. The most valuable skills in an AI-driven workplace include ethical decision-making, relationship building, emotional intelligence, and conflict resolution.
“In 2025, AI will unlock efficiencies, but it won’t replace essential human elements like empathy, communication, and relationship building,” said Jennie Rogerson, Global Head of People, Canva.
Bridging the Human Connection Gap
Despite AI’s advancements, a disconnect exists between employees and leaders regarding the importance of human interaction in an AI-powered workplace. 82% of employees see a growing need for human connection, while only 65% of managers share this sentiment. Leaders have an opportunity to prioritize genuine human engagement while integrating AI.
Collaboration for Responsible AI
AI is seen as a tool for transparency and accountability, with 90% of workers agreeing on its positive impact. However, responsible AI adoption requires joint efforts:
- 54% believe the tech sector should lead AI accountability.
- 12% expect businesses to ensure ethical AI use.
- 12% think governments should play a role.
“AI is an opportunity, not a threat,” said Jim Stratton, CTO, Workday. “By embracing AI for good, we can elevate what makes us uniquely human—our creativity, empathy, and ability to connect.”
As businesses integrate AI, balancing technology with human-centric skills will be crucial. Leaders must foster both innovation and meaningful human interaction to thrive in the AI-driven future.
