ISCA Establishes Strategic Partnerships with SIM and PSB Academy to Nurture Accountancy Professionals

Singapore, August 28, 2024 – In a strategic move to bolster the development of accountancy professionals both within Singapore and internationally, the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA) has formalised new partnerships through Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with SIM Global Education, part of the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM), and PSB Academy.

These collaborations are set to provide significant advantages to accountancy undergraduates at SIM Global Education and PSB Academy, equipping them with the tools needed to embark on the pathway to becoming a Chartered Accountant of Singapore [(CA) Singapore]. The MOUs offer a range of benefits for students, including:

  • Eligibility for undergraduates from selected accounting programmes to undertake the SCAQ foundation level examinations in their final year, thereby easing their transition into the professional world upon graduation.
  • Up to five exemptions from the required six examination papers, enabling students to fast-track their progress towards achieving Chartered Accountant status, potentially halving the time needed to do so.
  • Upon successful completion of the SCAQ foundation level, students will earn the title of ISCA Professional Business Accountant (PBA).
  • ISCA will facilitate career placements within its extensive network of Accredited Training Organisations (ATOs), comprising over 500 corporate partners in Singapore, assisting in resolving the ongoing talent recruitment challenges faced by these organisations.
  • In order to encourage international students to continue pursuing the SCAQ Professional Programme and earn the CA (Singapore) qualification upon their return home, ISCA will extend its support. ISCA has a network spread across 12 cities in 9 countries.

The MOUs were signed earlier today by ISCA CEO Ms. Fann Kor and representatives from SIM and PSB Academy, including SIM’s Interim President and CEO Professor Wei Kwok Kee, and PSB Academy CEO, Mr. Derrick Chang.

Ms. Euleen Goh, SIM Chairman and Distinguished Lifetime Member of ISCA, remarked, “SIM is dedicated to preparing our students with the essential knowledge and skills for their future careers. We encourage our students to embrace this opportunity to grow and tackle challenges as emerging leaders in the industry.”

Mr. Viva Sinnah, Executive Chairman of PSB Academy, added, “At PSB Academy, we acknowledge the crucial role accountancy plays in today’s global environment, fostering transparency, trust, and growth across sectors. Our prestigious affiliation with ISCA empowers both our local and international students to excel in this vital discipline, preparing them to become significant contributors to the global accountancy area. Through this partnership, we are nurturing a new wave of professionals who will uphold and advance the high standards for which Singapore’s accountancy sector is celebrated.”

Mr. Teo Ser Luck, ISCA President, commented on the partnerships, stating, “ISCA continues to enhance our collaborations with Institutes of Higher Learning in Singapore, ensuring a sustainable supply of qualified chartered accountants. This year has seen a resurgence of interest in the profession, leading to nearly double the enrolment for SCAQ. Our new alliances with SIM and PSB Academy will further fortify the accountancy pipeline, not just in Singapore, but on a global scale.”
