Singapore, September 18, 2024 — SAP today announced that Olam Agri, a global leader in the agri-business sector, has selected RISE with SAP on Amazon Web Services (AWS) to spearhead its cloud transformation. This strategic move aims to enhance the management of Olam Agri’s intricate supply chain while fast-tracking its journey towards an AI-driven future.
Headquartered in Singapore, Olam Agri specialises in sourcing, trading, processing, and distributing essential food and agricultural products worldwide. With a robust presence in emerging markets, its portfolio includes grains, oilseeds, feed, protein, rice, cotton, wood, and rubber products. The company’s mission is centred around transforming food and agriculture to create a more sustainable and food-secure future.
One of the driving forces behind Olam Agri’s decision to adopt RISE with SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition is the platform’s seamless integration with SAP Business AI. SAP Business AI is embedded within the SAP applications that manage critical business processes, offering a suite of AI innovations developed through deep industry-specific data and process knowledge, all built on responsible AI principles. These tools include SAP’s AI co-pilot Joule, which operates on AWS infrastructure, and Business Integrity Screening.
Joule enhances the accessibility of information and speeds up transactions, enabling business users to work more efficiently. Additionally, the AI-powered Business Integrity Screening will allow Olam Agri to swiftly detect anomalous activity through flexible rule sets and predictive analysis, helping to identify and mitigate business risks.
Initial AI use cases identified by Olam Agri include predictive maintenance for critical equipment to boost productivity, quality control across the supply chain, and improving customer service.
Shivram Ramakrishnan, Chief Digital and Information Officer of Olam Agri, stated, “Our aim in implementing this new technology is to drive greater agility and innovation within our organisation. We want to ensure we are well-prepared to meet the changing demands of our customers and other stakeholders.”
Enhancing Operational Excellence and Supply Chain Efficiency
SAP and AWS recently announced the expansion of their strategic collaboration to revolutionise modern cloud enterprise resource planning (ERP) experiences, providing enterprises with new capabilities and efficiencies through generative AI. Olam Agri has chosen to deploy RISE with SAP on AWS to accelerate its AI adoption and develop a more resilient, secure, and sustainable global food supply chain. By shifting to a cloud ERP model, Olam Agri aims to streamline its business processes and enhance operational efficiency.
Managing a complex global supply chain, Olam Agri’s ability to monitor and optimise every aspect of its operations is crucial. Olam Agri anticipates achieving operational efficiencies with the help of the RISE and SAP integrated data platform, which will improve results for its partners.
Furthermore, Olam Agri plans to leverage SAP innovations to advance its key business goals, such as sustainability, automation, and process optimisation, thereby continuing to deliver ongoing value.
Verena Siow, President and Managing Director of SAP Southeast Asia, said, “Olam Agri’s adoption of RISE with SAP marks a significant step in its digital transformation journey, enabling the company to innovate and enhance both operational efficiency and sustainability. By embracing cloud technology, Olam Agri is not only safeguarding its processes with the seamless integration of advanced technologies like AI, but it is also strengthening its ability to support farmers and agricultural communities, all while driving sustainability across its global operations.”
Collaborating with Mindsprint on a Cloud Journey
Olam Agri’s decision to adopt RISE with SAP was the result of close collaboration between the company, SAP, and Mindsprint, a silver partner in the SAP PartnerEdge programme. As the partner-managed cloud provider for RISE with SAP, Mindsprint plays a critical role in guiding Olam Agri through the complex migration process, leveraging its industry expertise to customise the SAP S/4HANA Cloud solution to meet the specific needs of the agri-business sector.
Dharmender Kapoor, Chief Executive Officer of Mindsprint, commented, “As the implementing partner, Mindsprint works closely with our customers to unlock the full potential of their digital investments. Our deep understanding of businesses like Olam Agri enables us to maximise the impact of their IT infrastructure, delivering tangible value.
